§ 3.1 — No overreaching signature

Across the window the correlations between training load and recovery signals are weak in every direction. Resting HR barely moves, HRV drifts slightly down, and sleep sits flat at roughly 6.9 h. Nothing here looks like accumulating fatigue, though the window is short and lifts are only logged from 2026-04-16.

Variables on this page

  • Volume (lbs) — daily training volume (Σ weight × reps).
  • Resting HR (bpm) — daily mean resting heart rate; a sustained rise can signal accumulating fatigue.
  • HRV (ms) — heart-rate variability (SDNN); a sustained fall can signal under-recovery.
  • Sleep (h) — time asleep, summed from Apple Health asleep segments.

What this does and doesn't show

There's no overreaching signature: training load barely moves resting HR, HRV, or sleep across the window. That doesn't establish that training had no recovery cost. The window is short, lifts are logged for only about 11 days, and the correlations are Pearson over a small n, so they're illustrative rather than causal. A flat result here is reassuring but not conclusive.
